The technology of 3D printing is slowly becoming more ubiquitous in today's society as a result of companies producing cheaper printers. In the years ahead, experts predict 3D printers will eventually become common in the average person's home. These 3D printers are utilized for practical everyday usage for commercial production, as well as parts used in manufacturing. For example, 3D printing is used to improve business production and improve the technology for bio printing of human parts for medical purposes.
The 3D printing technology is essential for the new frontier of medical research in order to efficiently develop new techniques to better solve old and new problems. According to an article on Live Science, there was a 3D printer showcased at CES 2015 (a consumer electronic show) in Las Vegas with the capability to print tiny medical implants that dissolve inside the human body. The printer prototype showcased by a company developed a 3D printer that automatically stitches up patients after surgery. In essence, 3D printing is gradually acquiring more attention in the medical community.
Experts say that by enabling a machine to produce objects of any shape, size, or material as needed is the new innovation of the era. As time passes, the applications of technology will continue to expand and prices will fall. An implication of this recent change is the production of more goods closer to their point of purchase or consumption. Previously, numerous goods have relied on the scale efficiencies of large, centralized plants produced locally. With the new and future innovations of 3D printing, businesses will be forced to rethink their supply and manufacturing strategies and operations.
Although 3D printing sounds futuristic, 3D printing is changing society, as we know it, today.

I didn't think that 3D printing would move from making novelties like toys and small ornamental pieces to complex, anatomically correct bone copies so rapidly. I imagine the next major advancement will be utilizing 3D printing in the production of goods of various different materials, such as metals. This could displace the old process or casting. Once 3D printing is expanded to different materials, I believe it will have a dramatic impact on some manufacturing.
ReplyDeleteIn addition to what was stated, 3D printing can effectively effect businesses through cost-efficient manufacturing. If your business receives and ships parts overseas, you can help eliminate those pricey expenses using raw materials at-home. This will require less human resources and an overall cheaper – and sometimes more reliable – version of the parts and products you need.
