As the world is evolving we as humans are also. We are moving towards a more "connected" society. Just like we learned throughout MIS we are
Expanding the Internet of things. A new invention that strengthens this connection of everything is the Ring. The Ring is a new cutting edge device, it
brings the world of technology to home innovation. I definitely support this invention and really want to look into getting one.
Users of the Ring are given the ability to operate appliances within the home through waving their finger in the air, representing an efficient way of
connecting smart home technology. The new version of Ring was featured in CES 2015; In addition, Logbar has now used materials that will not cause
any problems with Ring's connections with smartphones. The new version of the Ring went on sale March of this year; it is priced at $130. The Ring
includes a micro vibrator, a 6-axis, acceleration angular speed motion sensor and a touch sensor. The device also features EEPROM memory and a built-
in wireless device firmware update system. The battery of the device is a built-in lithium-polymer 3.7-volt battery, and promises a continuous usage time
of about one to three days. The continuous standby time of the device's battery is about 18 days, with the charging time to fully charge the device at
about three hours. Ring comes in four sizes and has a transmission range of about five meters.
Below is a video link about "The Ring"
This is definitely a product I can see myself investing in. It will help some of us who enjoy being lazy at home stay lazy and look pretty cool doing so.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very interesting invention it reminds me of a childhood movie called Spy Kids, where they had all these gadgets that basically did everything for them. I also like the idea of it being a ring that makes it easy to keep track so it won't get lost and it seems easy to control with it being on your indexfinger
ReplyDeleteI would agree with you @shaquieldover. The innovation in this does spark similar references to the movie Spy Kids and how we are really emulating the idea of a gadget world. It is quite fascinating that our generation has so many technological advances within every aspect of our lives. From entertainment to transportation and all the way to leisure, we are noticing a world way more connected than before. Technology is the one thing that does not have a racial preference. It is definitely all inclusive, and it is amazing, as this video showed us, the wonderful things that come about when uniform ideas and technology collide in such way that brings efficiency and fun to the individual and the world.
ReplyDeleteThis ring is awesome! I'm surprised it has not received more publicity, because I envision this being a product everyone will one day have in the future. It would be cool if there were constant updates, new features ,and signals that could be updated tot he ring similar to apple's iphone. The ring would possiblly make driving safer, because the driver could turn on the music, change songs, and adjust the AC without taking their eye off the wheel.
ReplyDeleteThe Ring is a product I have never seen or every thought about its cool you can stay in one place and control everything. The ring can also keep you organized it look like a device you would see in a action movie.
ReplyDeleteMuch of the Ring’s potential lies within its ability to interact with other devices. The problem there, is that those devices need to be compatible for it to work. So payment providers and retail outlets need to support it. If all of that comes together, the Logbar Ring could be great, but if not, it could turn out to be a complete dud.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of the Ring. It kind of reminds me of a new take on the universal remote. When I say universal remote, I am not speaking on a remote that can be used for any tv but a remote that can be used for various appliances around the house. It sounds very simple and efficient but are there any problems this product is having at the moment? I know the first draft usually has a lot of bugs and these bugs can truly make or break technology.
ReplyDeleteI think this invention couldn't have came at a more perfect time. The whole idea of gesturing is taking the place of touching, and i think will minimize if not eliminate touching all together. However, I don't think the ring's features are captivating enough for a user to buy. It seems as most of its features would display on a smartphone of some sort. Some of these things can be done already by simply speaking them into your smartphone. If this technology was fused with holographic imaging then i think it would stand out more and truly be revolutionary.
ReplyDeleteNo matter the consumer, no matter the market, conveniency is always a desired service. This product reminds me a lot of Iron Man. Every year it seems as though we are getting closer and closer to the technology in that movie. The Ring is definitely an interesting device but what is the demand for something like this? How will it distinguish certain daily movements from those directed towards working appliances around the house? Will you have to buy appliances that work in conjunction with the ring or will it work with all brands? I think this product has a lot of potential and it will be interesting to see its growth in demand over the next few years.
ReplyDeleteThe ring is a cool idea but it is waste of money to me he ring is just a small universal remote. I like the idea it is creative but i don't believe it is worth 130 dollars.Sometimes we as consumers get caught up in the bandwagon. We need to be smart consumers and realize that the ring does not add much value.
ReplyDeleteThe ring is a wonderful idea and its uses at home could only be the beginning. This same technology could be used within cars to make driving safer. Also, imagine what the military could do with this technology. Soldiers could move robots with their fingers and could possibly detonate explosives without a remote. The ring may be a luxury right now, but with the right innovative minds behind the product it could be used for a greater purpose.

ReplyDeleteOverall, I believe that The Ring is a pretty cool concept. Having the luxury of being able to operate and control household appliances with just a wave of a finger is brilliant. I also appreciate the fact that The Ring is not a big bulky piece of technology. The Ring is a small piece of technology that would be worn throughout the day and would always be available when needed.
ReplyDeleteThis is an overwhelming new form of interaction between devices. This could make the household duties of a man/woman way easier. The potential of this invention is immense. There have been a lot of new household technologies being released that allow for the communication between household members and their home. Within the coming years, I think that most American homes will operate at this level of technological advancement.
ReplyDeleteThe ring is a very innovative device. The two features I like best about the ring are turning on a television with it and how you can exchange contact information in seconds. I really like how fast you can exchange contact information. This will make networking with people a lot easier. Another thing I found interesting about the ring is when you charge it for three hours the battery life is 18 days.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very interesting device that I am just hearing about. I would definitely like to test the ring out just to see how it is while using it around the house and for my daily activities. I believe that the ring is a good idea however, I do not believe that this device will stick around to long. I believe that it is good for right now but it will eventually grow old.
ReplyDeleteThe ring looks like a great new innovative product. However, I’m curious about all of the features it has because it seems like only the basic functions were shown in the video. If these are the only functions the ring has, then I feel like it wouldn’t be that wise of an investment as there are similar things that do more that are coming soon. There was a blog post prior to this one where we expressed the concern of society becoming too dependent on new technology. I feel like this is an example of technology that we would become dependent on. On the other hand, I did find it interesting how you can call a taxi all with a hand gesture. I wonder how often someone would do something they didn’t mean to do, just because they had the ring and moved their hand a certain way.
ReplyDeleteThis ring could change the way society and electronics work, because a significant part of the Ring's potential exists in its capacity to cooperate with different gadgets. The issue there, is that those gadgets need to be perfect for it to work. So installment suppliers and retail outlets need to bolster it. On the off chance that the greater part of that meets up, the Logbar Ring could be awesome, however in the event that not, it could end up being a complete flop.
ReplyDeleteMan this is really a cool innovation. The ring actually saves good purpose in controlling your home appliances. I think it can be more efficient compared to some of the home automations that we have. Last summer I was at Xfinity and I had much exposure on their home automation which enables the home owner to conrol the applicances on his or her smartphone. I generally think the ring make =s more sense.
ReplyDeleteThis is really dope. Like you said just another step into make the IOT our reality. I can see people taking a device such as this and making it fashionably by adding all types of jewelry. Someone may even propose with one. Once they become more affordable I will definitely purchase one.
