Since close to the beginning of the 1960s, the internet was developed as a method to view and exchange information digitally without the restrictions of time or distance being a factor. Over many years, the internet has grown at a developing speed and pace and has become an essential part of the everyday life of the normal consumer where everything from the refrigerators, thermostats and many other aspects of life is connected to the internet. This growth in advancements has been labeled today as "The Internet of Things" which proves useful in the performing of average tasks, but can also lead to unforeseen and grave consequences as well.
With the advancements in the field of technology, we are not only opening ourselves to new opportunities and possibilities, but we also unknowingly expose ourselves to different and unforeseen dangers. The number one issue that surround this era of "The Internet of Things" falls around invasion of privacy. With almost every common household item being connected to the internet, hackers and other cyber-criminals will have more of a stronger negative influence on your life than ever thought before. Imagine, you leave your children home alone, but could watch their every moves from your location with the aids of household cameras, but at the same time, a complete and utter outsider who hacks your systems will have the same access to what you see. The thought of an absolute stranger watching my children, especially through my own technology, while I am not home is a scary and terrifying thought. Like never before, there is constantly new technologies being formed that make obtaining important and vital information about you easier to obtain. The concept of privacy will all together disappear, people who you do not know will know your name as well as other private information. Children are no longer safe because they can be easily reached and found by strangers and sexual predators from a place they seek refuge, their own homes and communities.

With the rise of technological advances such as the IOT. There will always be instances such as these wherein someone with an exceptional knowledge of computers, hacking, software, etc. will attempt to take something via the internet. I think that until there is a safe way to assure consumers that this won't happen, nobody will truly put their faith in things like these. It is scary to think that with the click of a button of somebody on the other side of the world, my life savings could be wiped out. Over the summer there was a hacking group that actually hacked xbox live servers and shut them down. After getting the access to hack the servers, this group had the potential to steal millions and billions of dollars from xbox live users who put their credit or debit card information on xbox live. Luckily, the hackers didn't do this. But it just goes to show how dangerous this can turn out to be. ReplyDeleteThe internet of things is a new and upcoming evolution. The ability for objects to be brought virtually to life is amazing. However the security issue is the major downfall. Having people invest their whole life into a machine or in fact in a system that they can not physically see is something people can not understand. The technology is advanced but that will not substitute for a person's piece of mind.
ReplyDeleteAs we continue to rely on technology more and more into the future, a need for cyber security will forever be in demand. In today's society more money is accounted for digitally than in physical green cash. This means that the new form of being done virtually which creates a world of new problems and risks that come from the internet of things and technology.

ReplyDeleteI was so desperately in need of this card and i contacted some companies i saw online they all promised me card in 5 days and i sent money on several occasions but i never got my card. Luckily for me i saw a comment by KIM RAY on Google+ advertising startechblankatmhackers@outlook.com and how reliable the where. Initially i thought it was just another scam but something kept telling me to make the move and so i did. I spoke to their agent and i sent all necessary information and in exactly 4 days i got my card exactly same as the picture sent to me and immediately i sought for an atm outlet and made my first cash withdrawal of $5000 and i paid my balance to STAR TECH. I am very grateful and glad i seized this opportunity now i can take care of my family and sick mother.
